Hybrid Electrical/Hydrogen BUS in partnership with COPPE (Research Center) of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – Project 2008/2010
The contract was made with many companies and the Research Center of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – COPPE.
Each company was responsible for one part of the project.
My company was contracted to design the electrical part of the hybrid hydrogen/electric bus. The project comprised 2 power, 36 Kw converters for supplying charge for ion lithium butteries from the hydrogen power cells, design of a breaking bilateral regenerative converter working with ultra-capacitors. Such system can accelerate and decelerate the bus using the ultra-capacitor charge.
Project of the inverter for the bus infrastructure,Control of the cylinders hydrogen Valves, Electrical protection system, DSP (Digital Signal Processor) for overall control of the system, including speed meter, log system and control of the power converters, breaking system and infrastructure converter . All controlled simultaneously. Project of the overall control software of the bus.
Our part in the project included overall inertial calculations and overall simulations through CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) In Matlab, Simulink and SABER. Some problems in high power magnetics was solved trogh Infolitica (Finite elements software) due to high power inductors implementation using high instantaneous currents.
For the contract we did not participate of a bid, because we were contracted by our expertise and knowledge.
